Health – Nutrition – Fitness – Style
Health:
What is health? Health is the complete package. Health is how you feel on the inside. Health is how you look on the outside. Health is what determines how you are able to live your life. Health determines your QUALITY of life. Your HEALTH is the single most important thing in your life. You should treat it as such. You should value your health. Unfortunately most of us do not value our health and/or even acknowledge it until it is gone. But by then it’s usually too late. By then most people are only able to look back and regret that they took for granted something as important and as valuable as their health. As an RN (Registered Nurse) I get to see this everyday that I go into work. I get to be reminded every day how lucky I am to be able to walk, to run, to breath with ease, etc etc etc…. This is why I listed HEALTH as the first in the four-part equation in living a happy healthy and stylish life. Because without good health it’s a lot harder to feel happy and or live as stylishly a lifestyle as you might truly desire.
Nutrition
Nutrition is the second most important factor in the equation. Why? Because nutrition is the quality of fuel you put into your body. If you own a car, you try to give it the best “fuel” that you can afford so that your car continues to run smoothly and you continue to have no problems with it. It’s funny how most people don’t see their bodies as important as their own cars. They put “fake food” into their bodies all day, every day, and then act surprised when their body breaks down. And processed food is fake food. It is not real. It is created by humans not by nature. Your body can only handle so much fake food. Your body can only store so much fake materials/chemicals before it cannot take it anymore and starts breaking down. Hence, without good nutrition, people get sick. The increase in Type II Diabetes in this country is astronomical. And the main cause of this increase is our diet, a diet rich in processed fake food. Nutrition also affects the chemicals in your brain. And it is those chemicals that affect our mood, affect how we feel. So keep that in mind the next time you notice yourself feeling sad, depressed, angry, frustrated etc… And ask yourself this, “can this mood I’m in, this feeling I’m feeling be traced back to my diet, and/or what I just ate for lunch???”
Fitness
Fitness is the 3rd part of the equation. Our fitness level also determines how we live our life. It determines how much participation in life we can have. It determines if you get to be a participant in life or someone who has to watch from the sidelines. Can you walk the 6 blocks to the store or do you have to get a ride there? In NYC, where it’s so much quicker to walk everywhere, would you be able to? Or do you need to wait for the bus to take you there? Can you go to an amusement park and walk around the whole day, or do you have to stay home because that requires too much walking, too much activity, and your body is unable to do it? You can keep your current level of fitness or increase it with exercise, with MOVEMENT! Keep your body moving!!! Almost everyone can walk. There is a form of exercise for everyone. Walking, being the easiest for most people. But even if you can’t walk, there are other forms of exercise and things you can do. There is no excuse to not exercise! The only reason people do not exercise is that they DO NOT WANT TO exercise. Usually because we are being lazy, myself included!!!
Style
Your Style is your personal style. Your style is really about your appearance. And this is very important too. Why? Because your appearance effects how you FEEL. And how you feel affects how you THINK. And how you think affects how you ACT. And how you act affects how other people RE-ACT toward you. And how other people react toward you affects how you FEEL, THINK and ACT! Do you see the cycle? (LOOK – FEEL – THINK – ACT – RE-ACT – FEEL – THINK – ACT – REACT – FEEL) It’s a constant cycle. Your personal fashion style is your very own. Your personal fashion style will tell others who you are and who you want them to see you as. Your style is the image of yourself that you are presenting to others. Are you conscious of what your image is saying to others? Whether we like it or not, others will judge us on the way we look. And the way we look is made up of our clothes, hairdo, makeup, hygiene, posture, facial expressions etc… etc… etc…. So the point of this post is dress in a style that you feel comfortable in. Dress in a style that makes you feel good. Because how you feel is going to affect how you think. And how you think is going to affect how you act. And how you act is going to affect how other people react toward you. And how those people react toward you is going to affect how you feel, think and act…. Got it?
